The second week of our 2011 Wisconsin Turkey Season has come to an end. Matt Haas and myself (Zach) were up to the plate this week. Battling non-responsive birds, henned up toms, and neighbors doing hail mary shots made it hard for myself to dump a big ol thunderchicken. Even though I ended up birdless, Matt stepped up to the plate and knocked one out of the park. Matt ended up dumping a stud of a tom, weighing in at 27.6 pounds and sporting a 13 3/4 inch beard. This tom is truly a bird-of-a-lifetime. Congrats Matt

In wisconsin's first week of turkey hunting the crew had an up and down week. first off, one of our main pro staffers joe haas ended up shooting a stud tom, 24 lbs, 10-3/4" beard and 1-1/2" spurs. however, one hour north of joe the team of dan haas and myself (zach) were not quite as fortunate. we battled with snow/sleet/rain/extreme winds. all weekend a single gobble was never heard. it was tough but thats why they call it hunting and not harvesting.
hopefully this coming week matt can continue with what joe did on their land in columbia county. as for myself, im bringing out my bow for the very first time for turkeys in the spring. hopefully one of these gobblers will lose their head over me ; ) . stay tuned for next weeks blog on how we did second week of turkey hunting. Starting tomorrow morning the crew is back up to their old tricks. It all starts with ME (ZACH) filming MY college buddy and special guest to haastyle hunting tv, justin fuchs. tHEN AFTER A FEW DAYS I WILL BE BACK AT IT FILMING MY FATHER DAN HAAS. KEEP CHECKING BACK TO SEE IF ANY OF OUR STAFF LAYS DOWN A BIRD IN THESE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS.
The staff is getting their slates sanded, box calls chalked, and practicing their diaphragm calls....we hope that the warm weather sticks here in wisconsin. We have been scouting hard and been seeing some really nice toms strutting their stuff. too bad for them, they dont know in one week their turkey kin starts hitting the ground ground. gobble gobble bang!!!! good luck to all of you hitting the woods this turkey season and above all the rest....be safe!!!!!!!!
We at haastyle hunting would like to welcome our newest sponsor elusion camo. they provide an awesome, realistic treebark pattern that is certain to blow away the competition.
For the weekend some of our staff will be heading down to the wisconsin deer and turkey expo that is taking place in madison,wi this weekend. WE HOPE TO SEE SOME OF YOU THERE!!!
ALSO IF YOU ATTEND THE EXPO MAKE SURE TO STOP BY OUR AFFILIATES BOOTH, WICKED WHITETAIL OUTDOORS. THEY WILL BE SETTING UP FOR THE UPCOMING 2011 IOWA TURKEY AND DEER SEASONS SO MAKE SURE TO ASK THEM ABOUT THEIR DEALS AND TELL THEM THAT TEAM HAASTYLE SENT YOU. |
