My name is Zach Haas; I grew up in and around Wisconsin my whole life.  I currently live on a small horse farm in the country with my parents on the outskirts of Eden, Wisconsin. I recently graduated from UW Stevens Point and obtained a bachelor degree in biology and water resources.   I used my degree to become a research director/pond management specialist at Wisconsin Lake & Pond Resource LLC, which is a private pond and lake consulting firm based in Eldorado, Wisconsin.  My hobbies are hunting, fishing, trapping, fourwheeling, trapshooting, indoor and outdoor archery, forestry, and teaching hunter safety.

Growing up I always was a country boy and outdoorsman at heart.  My dad, Dan Haas, got me into hunting at a very early age.  He took me everywhere when he was heading out to do some type of outdoor activity. Whether it was baiting for bear, setting up bow and gun stands for deer, calling in a big gobbler, reeling in big bass and bluegills, or just taking me out to shoot a couple rabbits and squirrels.  As soon as I legally could hunt at age twelve I was in the woods. Throughout my hunting career I had many mentors, mainly my dad, but also my brother-in-law Seth Gade.

Since I was thirteen years old I have been a volunteer hunter safety instructor. I wanted to give back to the hunting community and share my love for the outdoors with young sportsmen.  I get a joy of helping out every year and sending people out to the world of hunting.  However, my help didn’t stop there.  I picked up trap shooting when I was around seventeen years old and started shooting at the Hartford Sportsman’s Club’s Shoot for a Cure event which is a benefit towards the finding of a cure for cancer. Also I have started participating in a Shoot for a Cure 3D target archery event held at the same gun club.

Not only do I have a strong passion for the outdoors and helping out today’s young sportsmen and sportswomen, I also have a passion for competition within the sport, in form of various shooting leagues.  I was the Regional 3D Archery champion in 2001 and 2002 and since I started shooting 3D in 2000 I have racked up more than 30 awards.  I was part of several winning trap shooting teams at local gun clubs and team high gun on several occasions.  I also participate in several indoor archery leagues and have accumulated high shooter awards and team championships.

When I was about fifteen years old, Seth and I started messing around with my mom’s home video recorder.  We loved going out and taping wildlife and even though in the early years we were usual unsuccessful we loved just being out and recording our hunts and bloopers.  It all escalated from there when we got our very first digital video recorder. Everything started to fall in place and we then decided to go the next step and start our own show.

Through our television show I want to show everybody out there that hunting isn’t just about shooting that huge buck every time.  If you shoot a mediocre buck, but are proud of it then you shouldn’t look down on yourself but rather enjoy that you can be in the outdoors and appreciate what you have.  The enjoyment you get out of the sport and the fun you have with your hunting and fishing friends is the best part about it and I want to make that my focus to the viewers.
