As many usually are, I was introduced to the outdoors by my Father at an early age. He taught me all sorts of different strategies for successfully patterning whitetails. Little did he know how much myself and my older brother Mitch, would run with it. My brother also plays a huge role when it comes to my techniques towards whitetails. Mitch being 5 years older than me, I've always looked up to him. Especially when it came to locating mature deer. Between myself, my father, and my brother sharing an extreme passion for the outdoors, there is normally always something exciting stirring up " whitetail wise" in the Burger Family. A guy couldn't ask for two better best friends.
After high school, I worked through a 5 year apprenticeship program with Stainless Specialists where I have been for 10 years now. Basically doing custom Stainless Fabrication and food grade welding for all different kinds of Food Companies. Not exactly what I thought I was going to do after High School, but I couldn't be happier. I work heavy and long hours in the off season so when Fall rolls around I can usually have quite a bit of time off.
Then that one special girl comes along, Lisa Jensen. And ohhh did she come screeching in!!! I had no doubt in my mind that this girl would take up a lot of my valuable scouting time, but she was amazing... so maybe she was worth it?
After the last three turkey and deer seasons in Wisconsin, she had harvested more turkeys, and almost more deer than me! So that valuable scouting time I was worried about losing actually increased when she realized how beneficial my scouting was to her. Funny how that works out. Haha
She believes in me, puts up with my insanely time consuming scouting practices, wants to be involved any chance she gets, holds the fort down during my out of state hunting trips, and she's pretty nice to look at. That's 5 stars in my book, so with some smooth talking and a shiny ring, she said yes to being my wife! This opens up a whole new chapter in our lives. We promised one another that nothing will change, and we should always be able to laugh. Being together in the field makes the laughter come easy. Looking forward to sharing some of those smiles with the Haastyle Hunting Crew!
